Kailash Mansarovar itinerary
Day 1: Arrival Kathmandu
Arrival in Kathmandu, where our representative would meet you and transfer to hotel. Rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight in hotel.
Day 2: Kathmandu Sightseeing – Nepalkunj ( Evening flight)
After breakfast, proceed for sightseeing of Kathmandu city. Visit the Pashupatinath Temple and Swayambhunath Temple. The Pasuhpatinath temple is located on the banks of rive Bagmati and dates back to 400 A.D. The Swayambhunath is also known as the Monkey Temple. It is thronged not onlyby devotees but dozens of monkeys, hence the name Monkey Temple. Evening, transfer to the airport to take flight to Nepalgunj. Upon arrival in Nepalkunj, check into hotel for overnight stay.
Day 3: Nepalgunj to Simikot (By domestic flight)
After breakfast leave for the airport to take your flight to Simikot. Upon arrival transfer to the hotel. In the afternoon you can visit the Shiva Temple. Overnight in Simikot.
Day 4: Simikot – Hilsa – Purang
In the morning take a helicopter ride to Hilsa situated on the Nepal China border. But prior to that you have to complete your border formalities. After the formalities take the helicopter ride to Hilsa and proceed to Purang by road. Stay overnight in Purang.
Day 5: Purang
This day is at leisure to acclimatize to the altitude. It is advised to rest and drink plenty of water.
Day 6: Purang – Mansarovar
Today proceed for the holy pilgrimage to Lake Mansarovar. The drive would take 2-3 hours. It is highest freshwater lake in the world. It is not only a holy place for Hindus but also for Buddhists, Jain and the Bons. For Mount Kailash is the abode of Lord Shiva. For Buddhists, the place is an embodiment of Lord Buddha. The first Jain saint, Adinath received his emancipation at this place. For the Bons, their saint Shenrad is said to have descended on this very peak.
Day 7: Mansarovar – Yam Dwar – Deraphuk
Early morning one take a holy dip in the river. Later drive to the Kailash Base Camp and proceed to Yam Dwar. Here one can opt for taking the parikrama of Kailash mountain or wait at Yam Dwar. For those who want to go for Parikrama, they trek to Deraphuk which is 18km from Yam Dwar. Upon arrival check into a guest house.
Day 8: Deraphuk – Zuthulphuk
Today wake up early and trek to Dolma – La hill. The scared glacial lake Gauri Kund is positioned near the Dolma – La pass. After the ascending trek and reaching Dolma – La pass, we start the descending trek to reach Zuthulphuk. Reach Zuthulphuk Gomba and check into guest house.
Day 9: Zuthulphuk – Hilsa
Today the parikrama comes to an end. We reach Darchen and then drive to Hilsa. Upon arrival in Hilsa, check into hotel and rest.
Day 10: Hilsa – Simikot – Nepalgunj – Kathmandu
We return back to Kathmandu via the same route. Overnight in Kathmandu.
Day 11: Departure
After breakfast, transfer to the airport to catch return flight home.
